공간 설명

아시아 최대 규모의 ESG 플랫폼이다. 서울 성수동 서울숲 진입로 양쪽에 자리한 언더스탠드에비뉴는 2016년 민∙관∙기업의 상생 협력 프로젝트로 탄생한 창조적 공익 공간으로, 연간 130만 명 이상이 꾸준히 찾는 성동구의 대표 명소이다. 116개의 컨테이너로 구성되어 있으며, ‘낮은 곳에서부터 동일한 눈높이(under)로 서로를 이해(understand)하고 자립(stand)을 돕는다’라는 그 이름처럼 기업에서 지원받은 사회 공헌 기금이나 공간 운영 수익으로 사회적 약자의 성장과 자립을 돕고, 사회 활동가나 예술가는 물론 시민 누구나 자유롭게 이용할 수 있는 복합문화공간으로 운영 중이다.

Overview

UNDERSTAND AVENUE is Asia’s largest ESG platform, located on both sides of the main entrance to Seoul Forest in Seongsu-dong. Established in 2016 as a collaborative effort among the public sector, private companies, and civic organizations, it has become one of Seongdong District’s most iconic landmarks, drawing over 1.3 million visitors each year. Comprising 116 shipping containers, its name reflects the ideas of “understanding one another from the same level (under)” and “standing together (stand)” to foster mutual growth. True to this philosophy, the space functions as a nonprofit cultural complex that reinvests corporate social contribution funds and operational revenue into supporting the growth and independence of underprivileged groups. It also serves as an open venue where social activists, artists, and citizens can come together freely to gather and create.
